Leyla Stevens Lunchtime Artist talk - I am a heart beating in the world: Diaspora Pavilion 2, Sydney

DiasporaPavilion 2, Sydney artist Leyla Stevens discusses her moving image and photography practice in this conversation with Mikala Tai, one of the co-curators of ‘I am a heart beating in the world: Diaspora Pavilion 2, Sydney’.

Exploring the navigations, imaginings and lived experiences of six artists based in Australia, the UK and the Caribbean, the exhibition features Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, Kashif Nadim Chaudry, Lindy Lee, Leyla Stevens, Zadie Xa and Daniela Yohannes.

Streamed live on 1 September 2021, this conversation is Auslan interpreted and captioned, and features an excerpt of Leyla’s video work ‘Our Sea is Always Hungry’ presented in the exhibition. Recorded on Gadigal and Wangal lands.
