OPEN CALL / Systems Reclaimed

ICF is seeking proposals from highly motivated, self-managing emerging curators and producers to develop and present a public programme to take place online as part of a multi-season project our team is delivering focused on systemic inequality.

The project aims to create a platform for creative practitioners to highlight and interrogate specific manifestations of systemic inequality both within and beyond the arts. We will create a sustained and poly-vocal focus on the ways in which inequality is fostered and perpetuated by and within our institutions and within our social fabric.

If you are interested in curating a season of this project, we ask that you submit a short text detailing the issue you wish to focus on, who you’d like to work with and which digital formats you’d be keen to utilise. Your programme can include digital programming of your choosing, such as recorded interviews, written pieces, online talks, workshops, or commissions, screenings etc. We will host all programming on ICF’s website and social channels.

The ICF team will support you in the development of your programme, and we will work with you to identify external mentors who can offer additional support and areas of skills/knowledge development that will be of benefit for undertaking this opportunity and your wider practice.

Application deadline: 30 September 2022
Project timeline: October 2022 – January 2023

The budget for the programme is as follows:
Curator/producer fee: £3000
Total programme budget: £5000
Plus additional funds for mentorship, masterclasses and access support up to £1000

Here are some examples of potential topics that you may be interested in addressing: Migration/immigration; Ecological issues and climate change; Alternative education; Health and disability; Reproductive justice; and Accessibility in the arts. However, we are very open to receiving submissions on any urgent topic you identify beyond this list.

To apply please send us the following information by Friday the 30th of September 2022 to info@internationalcuratorsforum.org :
1. Your CV
2. A proposal text (up to 500 words)
3. Examples of 2 projects that you have previously worked on

We will notify shortlisted and unsuccessful applicants via email by Friday the 7th of October and will invite shortlisted applicants to participate in a follow-up conversation with our Head of Programmes between the 10th and 12th of October.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
